It is a small house completed in a local city of Hiroshima Prefecture.

We tried to contemporize the Japanese traditional "tatami" space.

Originally the traditional Japanese-style room had a flexibility which can deal with the various situation in real life.

I think that this matter is effective to design the tight space richly.

In this house, a half parts of the residence was planned as a "tatami" space with the double floor-height void space and created relations supplementing each other's narrowness between these space , upstairs rooms and garden.

"Tatami" space is the center of this house and becomes the contemporary Japanese-style room.

Though this house is very small, it is designed as a simple house with spatial expanse and depth.
